World Map Highlights for Confluence
This interactive world map macro lets you visualize and highlight key countries directly in Confluence. You can add hover text to these countries!
Perfect for showcasing production sites, regional revenues, political regions, project locations, or market presence.
Easy Steps to Create a World Map
This app is internationalized and adapts its language based of the Confluence user. Future expansion of languages is possible. Default is English.
Country Names are avialable in English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanisch, Hindi, French, Arabic, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Italian and Japanese
Configuration titles are currently available in English, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, German and Italian.
1) Insert Macro
Edit your Confluence page you want to include the map.
Type first
/on a page and afterwards “World Map Highlights” or Click the+button in the toolbar and search for “World Map Highlights”Then you will be led to the Configuration panel
Configuration Panel
The Configuration Panel consists of 2 areas:
On the left you can Edit your configuration.
On the right you see a Preview of the configuration changes.
3 Sub-Menus are offered:
Country Data (Add countries and optional text, you want to present)
Presentation (Options to modify the layout)
Colors (Options to modify all colors)
By pressing the “Save Configuration” Button all changes will be saved. “Cancel” will ignore all changes.
Subsequently, you will return to the Edit mode of your Confluence page.
You can insert the macro and do the configuration in one go. Or you do it step by step and save the configuration made in the meantime.
2) Add Content: Countries and optional Country-related Text
This step is essential for selecting the countries you wish to highlight on the map. - Press “Country Data”
Add Countries
Initially the list of the countries is empty.
You need to press the “+” Button to Add Countries.
Search for your countries you want to add (in the top level input field) or mark them / press Enter to fill the list in the field.
Then press the “Add” Button.
Add Text to your Countries
Simply press the “Edit” Icon Button to edit the text of the corresponding country.
The Edit panel will appear.
To remove a country from the list just press the trash icon.
You can edit the text of the country which will appear as hover-text.
There are several text formatting options you can use.
Be careful not to overload the hover-text panel of the map.
Use concise data points and short summaries. Avoid lengthy paragraphs.
If you enter a lot of text pls. check the layout of the hover-text afterwards.
After editing the text of a country the Edit Icon in the countries list will be marked light-green as indicator that text is available for this country.
3) Check Layout: Optionally Modify
the Presentation Style including Colors

Press “Presentation”
Style
The Width of the map can be defined as % or Pixels.
The Heigth of the map is measured in Pixels.
Choose the alignement you prefer.
Zoom
Zoom Level starts with 1
Zoom Control enables the corresponding control element usable on the map (
+/-).
Home Geo Point
The Home Geo Point is the geographic coordinate (latitude and longitude) where the map is initially centered when a user first views the map.
Select a country as Home Geo Point. | |
Enter specific latitude and longitude. |
Colors - Optional Configuration
For each available color type ( Normal country, Hover text , Marked country, Country border, Sea) you can modify the default values for Light Mode and Dark Mode.
When you press a color of the presented list of colors a pop-up will allow you to modify this specific color.
To operate this color picker,
Select your desired Hue by dragging the circular marker along the horizontal rainbow slider.
Then, adjust the Saturation and Lightness (or Value) within the main square by dragging the inner circular pointer to get the exact color you want.
You can see the results of the changes in the Map Preview in Light / Dark Mode.
